Luxembourg gets mixed report on 5G readiness
Luxembourg got a mixed rating on how ready it is for the next generation of mobile networks, with an overall 9th ranking out of 38 European countries, according to a report by a consultancy company.
In particular, the country lacks qualified personnel and engineering expertise to support the 5G networks, which are faster and can deal with more data at a lower cost.
The lack of qualified staff is explained in large part because few people study technology at university, which could be offset through attracting foreign talent.
According to InCITES, a consultancy based in Luxembourg, the countries most prepared for the deployment of 5G are Finland, ranked first, followed by Sweden and the Netherlands.
