Is banning foreign vendors altogether the remedy to national security concerns?
Since early 2018, there has been an outbreak of investigations into network equipment manufacturers regarding practices related to national security as well as potential violations on international sanctions. This wave of investigations, also referred to as ‘Digital War’, started in early 2018, when the US government said that ZTE violated the terms of a sanctions settlement against Iran and North Korea by illegally shipping telecoms equipment to those countries.
